ETHOS

Why do we need to 'keep it human'?

I don't know about you, but... I've noticed that the culture in many organisations seems to be fundamentally at odds with what it is to be human.

What's the Challenge?

Business agendas are shifting as the world begins to face up to the most pressing global challenges of our time.

GLOBAL HEALTH : INEQUALITY : ECONOMIC VOLATILITY : INCREASING MENTAL DISTRESS :  CLIMATE CHANGE : BIO-DIVERSITY LOSS

It's becoming clear that we are at an inflection point in human history. And business has a pivotal role to play in bringing about the social and economic change that we so desperately need.

Yet in our organisations, people are often treated in ways that prevent them rising to meet these challenges.

We spend a third of our lives at work. If only it was a place where we could be our EXTRAORDINARY selves!

What's the Solution?

Let's not pretend there's some magic bullet that will put everything to rights.

But we can build more human workplaces, like the ones described below. And I'm committed to doing this through the services I offer, tailored to the specific context and challenges of each client I work with.

WHAT DOES KEEPING IT HUMAN STAND FOR?

We know that the most healthy and productive workplaces are those where people:

Can simply be themselves, without the need to distort or pretend

Feel safe to speak up and be honest with each other (and themselves) about what is going on

Value all forms of diversity
and difference

Treat each other fairly and respectfully – considering the needs and feelings of others

Experience and accept the natural range of human emotions at work, as essential ingredients of business life

Appreciate that workplaces are, above all, human places, and that real people have flaws
